Modern backends face bursty traffic, slow I/O, and CPU-heavy work. Mastering concurrency (many tasks progressing) and multithreading (many threads executing) lets Java teams ship services that are fast, resilient, and cost-efficient - especially with Java 21+ Virtual Threads.

Masterclass Outcomes

Threading & Async: ExecutorService, ThreadPoolExecutor, ForkJoinPool, ScheduledExecutorService, CompletableFuture, Virtual Threads, Structured Concurrency (StructuredTaskScope).
Coordination & Data: BlockingQueue, Semaphore, CountDownLatch, Phaser, ConcurrentHashMap, LongAdder, StampedLock.
Reactive stacks: Java Flow, Project Reactor, RxJava, Spring WebFlux (when event-loop style fits).
Performance patterns: Producer/consumer, fan-out/fan-in, pipelining, batching, lock striping, LMAX Disruptor.
